It has been a while since the last post and in order to make up for it, I will post a couple of mixes on a weekly basis now. Starting off with this one here, edition numer 9, featuring soulTec from Oxford / UK. He has been in to drum n bass since the early 90’s when jungle blew up. Back then he got hold of a Bukem mix and just thought it was amazing the way he chopped the amen in and the way he mixed was on another level. soulTec bought the famous Atlantis (i need you) by Bukem in 93 and was hooked. He started buying vinyl even though i didnt have decks and rinsed them out on my parents record player. This guy likes all sounds from deep and soulfull to dark and rinsing. Big influences are people like Furney, Bukem, Marcus Intalex, Calibre, Commix and Makoto, just to name a few. soulTec has been making beats for about a year together with his mate joey. check out their myspace profile: www.myspace.com/soultecjoey. The eighth edition of the podcast features Sicko (Payback) from Belgium. He got infected with the drum & bass virus 7 years ago, when he witnessed a set by the mighty Goldie. After that he realized that this was his kind of music and he started buying more and more records of this genre. Sicko prefers tracks from labels as Defunked, Fokuz or Soul:R, but in his sets he tries to keep it diverse by not only focussing on liquid tunes. He is one of the founders of the payback crew, which organizes D&B parties several times a year. In the past, they invited acts like Commix or Wildchild and pretty soon, they will have their 10th party, which calls for a special celebration! The seventh edition of the podcast features Elle Rollo (Urban Style Music) from Düsseldorf, Germany. Actually, he comes from Perth in Western Australia and has been DJ’ing the last 10 years. Spinning mostly deep & funky Drum n Bass, Rollo has held down various residencies at several bars & clubs in his time plus hosted a few radio shows. He has played alongside the top DJ’s in the game, also in the United Kingdom & his new home Germany. Rollo promises to roll something a little bit different with his refined selection and style!!! He currently does a monthly night in Cologne with DJ Cansoe called “Urban Style Music” and has a few mixes on breaksblog. The fifth edition of the podcast features DJ Cansoe (Urban Style Music, Breaksblog.biz) from Cologne, Germany. He started buying Drum & Bass records back in 1997 and had his first bigger gig at a huge youth fair in 1998 under the name DJ Blend. Moving back to his hometown Cologne about 4 Years back he started 2 radio shows “Delicate Drums” on futuregrooves FM and “Rogue Soul” on PF Radio and was guesting on radio shows such as “Radio Drittes Ohr” and DNBRadio.net. He has also played at various clubs, bars and lounges around Köln, Düsseldorf, Essen and Duisburg. Cansoe also is the founder & resident of “Urban Style Music”, a monthly Club Night in Cologne, which focuses on the soulful and deep side of Drum & Bass.
